How to ground galvanic isolation transformer?

No need for deduction - I stated in my first posting it is a galvanic isolation transformer I am installing ?? And yes, it is the Victron you posted ?
Hence the confusion.
It was not clear if you were installing an isolation transformer or a galvanic isolator. Which is why Alex Blackwood asked which you are installing.

But he called it a galvanic isolation transformer.

Do you see the word "transformer" in the description for a galvanic isolator ?

The OP also asks "Can I hook up the 230V boat side earth from transformer to grounding point on engine? "

Does that sound like a GI ?

Glad you posted this, i have argued that this is a way to do it and have been told i'm wrong, even accused by one forum member of being a cowboy.
Confused me when I got the boat - until I asked what it was for!

You can just see the anode behind the saildrive in this photo

Sorry Alex, but there's no similarity in the connections of an isolation transformer and a galvanic isolator. The IT is wired as above, a GI just connects in line with the incoming shore power Earth.
Paul, Sorry my turn to be vague I meant the connection to Earth via the anodes, or what ever. Should have been more concise!

But he called it a galvanic isolation transformer.
Oh, come on - seriously? You are bickering about that I used "galvanic" in front of isolation transformer?!? Google "galvanic isolation transformer", and there should be no doubt what I mean.

This was my first post on this forum, and if this is the way that one splits hairs, it is my last one :-(

No point responding, as I won't see it :-)

Oh, but thanks for the positive and helpful input shared by some :-)

I'm afraid it's the way of some on this forum, but don't be put off, it's one of the best boating resources on the internet.

Sorry if I caused you hassle on your first post, However it is all due to terminology. Some people may refer, mistakenly, to Isolators as transformers and Isolating transformers as just Isolators. I only wanted to clarify exactly what you had. Good luck with it!
