I have been painting some internal cupboard doors with Hempels two pack. Its very hard to get a good finish (Like a spray botth finish) . I flat down with very fine paper between coats. Any suggestions.

I watched a pair of professional boat builders paint my boat once. One rolled with a small foam roller and the other follwed quickly behind 'tipping off' the paint with a good quality brush. Bruch held at 45 degrees and 'just' touching the paint. Brush wiped frequently.

It was a wooden boat and people thought it was GRP because the finish was so smooth and gloss like...

I have tried the method since, and it is fairly easy to get similar results.

As always, 90% of the finish is all in the preparation, 10% in the method as described.

International do a CD which is available in most Chandlers and is FOC, tells you pretty much all you need to know about painting your boat and how to achieve a really nice finish, has demo vids included. It's all very well people talking about "tipping off", but it is very useful for a neophite to see it actually done.
