Recently purchased a Holt Allen HA 337 inspection cover.
Was going to cut the hole and fit it into the boat yesterday, first step is of course to mark the diameter for the hole, thought I would use the cover as a template, but the problem is that I cannot separate the two parts, have tried using wood and spanners that fit the slot, but cannot turn it at all.
Any one got any suggestions please.

It will probably unscrew if you immerse it into hot water for a while.

I always use a large hole saw when fitting round inspetion hatches. It makes a more precise cut.

110 mm cut out required.

Vaseline or waterproof grease on the threads will make it easier to unscrew next time. As mentioned its a 110mm hole; I used a series of drill holes and dressed the aperture with a coarse glass cloth on a drum sander to get it smooth, but it produced a lot of dust/fibres.

I just used a jigsaw for similar sized holes.

I tried this until I realised the area where the hatch was going wouldn't allow me to use a jigsaw

So.....I ended up doing this......

Well the hot water treatment did not work, about to send it back to Holt Allen, when her in doors picked it up, stuck a fork into one of the bolt holes and it opened, and I had struggled for hours with blocks of wood, large spanners etc, but now I can get on with the job of fitting it.
