I have a new anchor to fit to a Rival32. It doesn't fit the present (original) stemhead fitting wich might have been designed for a CQR. The new anchor (Knox) would dig into the fibreglass of the bow, it needs to be about 200mm further away.
Anyone changed out this fitting before? Make a new one from scratch or buy one from somewhere?

Is the current fitting very specific to the boat (incorporating the forestay, pulpit bases, etc), or is the anchor roller a separate part from those bits? If the latter, you might find an off-the-shelf replacement roller, but more likely the fitting is combined and you'll need to find a decent stainless fabricator to either remove and modify your existing fitting or make some sort of bolt-on adaptor.

The stemhead fitting is designed for the boat. It incorporates the base for the forward pulpit leg.
I'm thinking that I'll take it off this winter and build it up with a one-off fitting for the anchor and then screw it back into its place. But and R32 is not so uncommon, someone might have done this before?

I bought a Mantus Anchor Mate, see here : http://mantusanchors.com/mantus-anchor-mate/. Seems to keep my anchor off the bows.

I like that. Is there a UK distributor do you know?
Couldn't find one when I looked so I imported mine. Shipping was a bit ouch but even then it was a whole lot cheaper then a new or modified bow fitting.

It would be great if Mantus did get it together to appoint a UK disty, just in case anyone is lstening, they sell several items that look like well thought out equipment that is not available from anywhere else.

That looks an elegant bracket. In my case though, I'll still need to extend the stemhead fitting, as the current sits right on the bow, no overhang. This means that the anchor flukes prevent the anchor from being pulled snug into the bow. The gap is about 200mm, so I need an extension roller or similar. I addition, the width of the shank of a CQR is about 50mm at the point where it sits into the fairlead, whereas the NG anchors are typically 10mm or 12mm.

I think I'll fabricate something new to make it work.

I wouldn't bother to change the stemhead - I've had a number of different anchors and find using a drop-nose pin through a welded retaining web, above the original stem head does the job effectively and at reasonable cost.
I do live 6/12 on the boat and anchor 85% of the time.

I got my local stainless man to weld up an extension to the original bow roller. It sits inside the old roller and is bolted in place. I decided not to use an actual roller for the chain, just a stainless 'chute', it would not be difficult to include a roller. It works fine for me and prevents the anchor chipping at the stem.
