How to dispose of a derelict Islander 23?

As per the title.

'A friend has a <edit> Islander 23 not Halcyon </edit> on his land that's been abandoned. It's utterly derelict. The trailer tyres are cracked and the trailer isn't exactly healthy.

How do you dispose of something like that? It's complete, but has been standing so long that the woodwork is crumbling to dust.

Cheers :)

Now thinking it (I really can't bring myself to call it 'she') isn't a Halcyon 23.Anyone recognise it?

Like these? Taken through the forehatch

There's no motor and the outboard well has been filled. Propshaft tunnel appears to have builders foam in it.

It's been standing at LEAST 17 years, possibly many more. I do suspect it's osmosis free though- it hasn't been in the water for long enough to get it.

I sold a Mirror dinghy on ebay at the weekend which needed a lot of work but just had to go. 99p auction or £5 buy it now buyer collects. Gone in a trice. This is more difficult if the trailer is past it as a HIAB will be needed. Is it possible to get a HIAB to it or is the trailer just up to dragging it out of the field?

I like what you did with the use of soft focus and dramatic lighting... Advertise the boat on fleabay and if somebody buys it then just getting rid of it might be worth a lot to the landowner.

a friend of mine has just put a halcyon 23 together from two old boats and sold the remaining hull on ebay quite easily. you will be surprised i think. as long as you are honest and put no reserve you should get the bids. is the trailer moveable if it had new tyres? i got mine from a scrapyard complete with wheels - might be worth investing a bit in wheels to make it towable although if it's a road trailer you might need to redo the brakes - or advse the buyers they will need to do so. if the cradle is separable from the trailer that's worth cash too - so make sure you mention that in the ad

That really doesn't look too bad. An hour's work with a pressure washer outside, remove the rubbish from inside and she'd look quite respectable.

Err no. By all means ebay her off but try a bit harder at taking pics!
It's almost impossible to take pics safely-the cockpit floor is so rotten that it's impossible to walk on without going through and there's a hasp and lock on the main hatch which looks far stronger than the hatch itself which would leave a gaping hole if removed. I really don't want to do that as it'll fill up quite quickly given where it is and the wind blowing along that hedgerow.

The pics that were taken were either standing on the foredeck with the phone dangled in through the hatch or while standing alongside.

The trailer MIGHT be ok to drag it out of the field if the tyres reinflate.

I don't think it's a Snapdragon, the lines of the cabin are wrong.

Isn't it a GRP hull? If it's ply have a bonfire.
Wasn't talking about yachting magazine quality photos but I'm not even sure what you're trying to show on those posted above. A few clear shots showing the outside would really help. Like hull, keel, deck and cockpit. If you can't get inside fine but super grainy out of focus shots made with a mobile phone at a bizarre angle would be better suited for an art project. IMHO of course!

Who actually owns it? Might be worth while putting a notice on it to say that if it is not removed within 7 days it will be sold to pay for its removal? Just a thought, but it would be the very thing if a disappointed owner turned up in tears the next week wondering where his boat had gone.
