Can anyone advise on this please? I'm trying to connect a Vesper Watchman 850 AIS to Furuno GP1871F plotter via NMEA 0183. I have taken the Vesper + and - out wires (grey and yellow) as shown on the diagram and tried connecting them to every combination of the Furuno NMEA wires and set both to 38400 baudrate (whatever that is) but not a peep of AIS on the chartplotter. I've also contacted support for both products but of course they only really support their own equipment. In the hope that someone can help I am attaching the relevant diagram from both manuals. Maybe there is some setting that I am not doing on one of them but no idea what that might be. Thanks in hope!! Colin

I think I had trouble connecting that unit (Vesper) to an Icom radio. FWIW this was the connection that worked for that:

Vesper ICOM
NEMA out (+) A .... Gray wire To Listener A (data H) Yellow wire

NEMA out (-) B .....Yellow wire To Listener B (data L) Green wire

More importantly, I can vaguely recall there was something else, I think the radio may not have been able to cope with the baud rate and that it had to be reduced. No doubt someone will be along who understands these matters. I am sure you will get there, the Vesper is an excellent piece of kit by the way.

Agree with the above for connections.
Have you checked the setting in chapter 8 of the Furuno manual? Are there any targets within range?

good point. I made sure there was a target on the Vesper and changed the defaults on the Furuno to increase the range and stop it eliminating slow targets which is the default setting.
