Do you know anything about Dan Fenders? No, not the bloke - the fenders.

Okay, I know this is a stupid question and I feel quite embarrassed asking BUT I've just splashed out on 2 brand new DAN FENDERS and cannot inflate them.

Worse still, when I tried inflating one with a bicycle pump and football adaptor it broke the little brass valve.

Worse even than that, my wife then attacked the second one, in excatly the same way I hasten to add, and broke the little valve on the second fender.

None of my other fenders have this valve and I have managed to blow them up without any problems - but the "Dans" refuse to play ball.

Any ideas?

Well, we got a set of 6 plus a fender step at the boatshow and blew them up OK with an electric car tyre inflator.

Still managed to break the adoptor on the fender step so rather hoping that they don't go down in a hurry......

Won't that bring tears to their eyes? - I heard about a guy who whistled up his sheepdog......

apart from that, we use the outside of a "biro" pen taped to the compressor hose and just jam it into the valve hole.

i inflate mine by using a air blower (found in vehicle workshops) and just push blower into hole and inflate, you have to carefull not to overdoe it . maybe ask your local garage

If you have an electric inflator just push the end straight onto the valve, dont put any adaptors in just put the end onto the valve press hard and the air will go in rather than leak out the side.Over the years have found that the adaptors mostly tend to knacker the valve when you push them in.

AT LAST !!!! A use for those out of date flares /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

What a BRILLIANT forum - what would I do without it!? Thank you everyone for your help (and for the alternative suggestions!). I am now going to the nearest garage (that's a Leclerc supermarket over here) armed with the (of)Fenders, a biro, some blue tac.....and some semtex just in case 5I used up all my old flares on new years eve).

If you go to a garage (which is what we do incidentally) modern key in your pressure first machines need to be set to flat tyre or they wont give you any air.

Do turn this off when finished though as they keep pumping until the timer runs out.

I find the car pumps work for all my fenders, many different valves.
