I have bought a new dinghy that is 2.7m long. I need to put the name at the bow on either side. I plan to get the lettering from Funky Monkey Boat Names
I am not sure how high to have the letters. I realise that there is no hard and fast rule, but a guide would be helpful
Could anyone advise?
Thanks

2" would be about right

but then when the dink is on the beach or tethered to a landing jetty etc you are advertising that the boat is probably nearby and unattended

Get some of the proper paint for PVC or Hypalon as appropriate and paint the name in big letters on the bottom.

we did this and had so many people saying "you shouldn't do that" as VicS states above.....that we actually contacted our insurance company for advice...their response was that we should not put our boat name on the dinghy...apparently putting another different name personal to you is ok..

We removed the name from our tender for the exact same reason. Still marked with Name and phone number in an unobtrusive place. Give it an individual name or if you are clever, an anagram of the big boats name.

Ye Gods, we live in a different world! Thank goodness.

I have contacted my insurance company and their reply is as follows......

I can confirm that unlike some policies on the market, there is no requirement under your policy terms and conditions to name your tender in any particular way (precisely for the reasons you give about advertising that you may not be aboard the yacht).
