But it still does not make it a "January 2009" Boat. The "model year" may set the specification as I pointed out, but the fact remains that it was built in 2008, not 2009. Think about it. The "model year" runs to August 2009, if they are still in business, so other 2009 boats could be 8 months younger than this one! And remember that all the factory installed equipment dates from October 2008, not January 2009, unless EBY are warranting them from the date of transfer of ownership.

As to whether it makes any difference to resale value is another issue. I guess it makes a big difference to its current value as I presume the price agreed for a stock boat is substantially lower than one that will be built in January. Otherwise why would one buy it rather than one built to order with the same delivery date.

At the end of the day you have to decide what is a good deal for you, but don't be swayed by spin suggesting you are getting something you are not.

Update following visit to EBY Saturday. Warranty will run for two years when we complete on the boat Mid/end Jan. No further stage payment required now other than a small increase on original initial deposit (paid by credit card) with the balance payable on completion. All in all I feel comfortable that my risk is minimised and I still retain ownership of the T43 until completion.
Have to state that EBY seem switched on to people's concerns in the current climate and accomodating and addressing my concerns. Flexible companies like this will survive in difficult times.

Good stuff. And also a good thing that they are clearly not desperate for cash.

Ooh, when can we know more? Deserves a new thread of course, or a pm if not ready for general publication yet.
