Heres a great example of how not to operate a lock.

I hope they bill this guy for the damage he has caused!

And people wonder why there are so many leaky lock gates :(

Blimey,
It looks to me as though the RH door may have jammed solid as a result of his ramming it. I see some comments in Youtube suggesting perhaps he's found the gates/doors stuck and he might have resorted to using his boat as a battering ram to try and free them. But if so it seems more than a little misguided.

The lock jut wasnt full when he barged his way through.

You can see the water still coming in the ground paddles and the water level isnt up to the level of the wet, weedy area on the gates!

Has been suggested that one of the paddles used to empty the lock was not closed meaning that the lock would in fact never fill.

If one were being over generous it could be suggested that the Morse cables broke - but both at the same time??

No, its inappropriate use of a boat - if you had done that in the old days (they did do it) and were spotted by the canal company there would be a fine for it at least that's as I understand it
But I don't think CRT can apply fines - maybe they can do something else ??

Or going under bridges!

Strange that its legal to operate a 100ft+ barge with no forward vision from the helm. Pretty sure in inland waterways in 'Yerp' there are laws covering that and the AQ and the possibly the Magna Carta would not be allowed.

The wonders of England I suppose we should be proud of it

There's a big thread on the Facebook "Canal and Rivers" group where I don't think this was a CRT person who filmed it, but it was handed to them and others have caught up and identified the culprit.
