Hello
I am just getting back into boating after a 10 year break. I am looking to buy a late Fairline 36 Turbo.

What in particular might be difficult to bring up to BSS spec on a standard boat that hasn't been on the river before.

Any recommendations for a good surveyor who will travel to the south coast and report on both condition and BSS omissions

Batteries must be secure. Check fuel hoses for wear and they must be of the correct type. Make sure there's no way your boat can pollute the river and any orange flame on a gas appliance is a fail plus you'll need up to date fire extinguishers, It's pretty straightforward really.

All the info you need is in the link above, sorry I can't recommend anyone who'll travel to the coast. Good luck!

The Boat Safety Scheme website has a list of surveyors in various areas; this years, when we decided to take our Cornish crabber up the East Coast to the Broads and leave it there, found it relatively easy to find a BSS surveyor near Harwich who came and sorted me out.
