Don't spend too much, enjoyment of sailing does not depend on amount spent on boat and after a certain point may detract from the enjoyment due to worry about how much it is all costing
Don't spend more than you can afford which means don't borrow the money to do it !
Better still share the costs and use with someone else, the boat can then be used 20% of available time compared with 10%, for no marginal cost.
