I would rather recommend Possum Merino socks I Great Kiwi Yarns. They are much warmer.

Was given a pair of trekking socks. Merino wool and terry inside. Long to also work with proper boots.

Love them. Outdoors, standing walking, in boots or shoes. And indoors,- these days cold floors are not uncommon but these really make you feel warm [down there]!
Immediately went out and bought another 4 pairs. Outlet was some £20 for two pairs.

Ex Navy and RAF goretex jackets and trousers are great and very good value. The army stuff is good too but not everyone wants the camo look on a casual hike...

RAF stuff was issued in DPM camo’ or plain blue.
