How much to spend to sell?

Considering re-gel in White, off White or light grey.
GRP is my thing so easy and the cost of mats is pretty good - less than half what paint would be.

I do take the point's made about getting you're money back but I guess I'd feel better selling her in better nick.
I think I'll budget £1000 and I'll get a bit more piece of mind as I'll make sure it's done right.

Conscience is an expensive thing

You are selling a boat that had been on the hard for a long time. As long as you are truthful conscience doesn't come into it. It depends on how much you think any work you do will improve the value. She looks like a boat that will appeal to quite a few sailors. I would clean and polish, get everything working that can be got working, empty the boat as much as possible and leave it at that.

You've already said you'll do the headlining and you're now going to re-gel. On top of the cleaning, general tidying, checking over the engine and making sure that the electrics are working, are you sure that a budget of £1k is enough? I suspect you aren't allowing anywhere near enough for your labour.

A guy at Ancasta once told me that red boats are the hardest to sell.If you're respraying her dark blue or white might be better.

The boat I have bought was red and the previous owner had it painted green. And all new green upholstery. On adding the bills up he spent more on the boat than I paid for it.
Only spend money if you are going to keep it. Put it on ebay as a "project boat" and you will find loads of interest.
