How much rain will cure hosepipe issues/canal depth/reservoir levels?

All our local streams are high and flowing fast. This is in Emsworth, Hamshire, from the OP it seems it might be different elsewhere, is it?

You'll notice that I started the thread eleven months ago, before last year's sodden summer began...I'm also located in the south-east, and at that time, we were under the definite impression that water was in short supply...

...ironic that prayers made for rain were answered too thoroughly. That said, if we now had a dry spring and summer, I wouldn't be surprised if we were told by July that reservoirs were getting worryingly low again.

Like I said, we've had enough now! Perhaps you could start a post for this year complaining about how much rain we have had and we might get a dry summer!

It's dead easy to detach yourself from threads when you've had enough...the link is on your email page.

I thought it was interesting that while the weather has solved the hosepipe-ban issue, the rain we're now getting in plenty, is mostly not being stored.

Oh, now I see what you mean! ...I begin whining about rainfall, and in a few weeks, God, or the Met office sends sun, to make me look out of date. Good plan! ;)

If you could put in a request, starting in say a week, warm, dry winds force 3- bottom of 5. Bit of rain overnight some of the time (but mainly during the week) and just enough rain to keep the rivers etc topped up but not so heavy to cause flash floods. Keep that going until say November, brief autumn then some snow between Xmas eve and New Year's Day then back to spring and summer.

Thanks
