What the hell do you need radweld for? Wheres it leaking from? It's absolutely disgusting muck and only a get you home trick, otherwise it is death to your cooling channels! Might aswell use the old raw egg trick.

Ah well. It's got a little leak from a manifold gasket and means the whole engine has to come to bits to get at it so the radweld works but suspect the gasket is rusting away a bit more. Once put some in a truck in Yugoslavia that had got a massive hole in the radiator on account of it being 40d below and some pillock had not put enough antifreeze in it. Stopped the leak and never had any more trouble from it. Just like new.

I didn't say it doesn't work, we used to use gallons of the stuff, on chieftain engines, when the inner cylinder liner seals used to go, but the waterways were eventually blocked and BOOM!!! no more very expensive engine. I suppose if you just want to keep the engine going until winter and then repair it properly, OK but when you do repair it check the waterways and remember the fact that it stops leaks, means it builds up everywhere and is a swine to remove, we used to use a caustic soda solution and soak it for a week!! I kid you not, it sets like concrete, especially in water pumps, remember V....O parts prices, you have been warned.

If you must use a sealant at all then use Bars Leaks, I've always found it better than Radweld and it doesn't from my experience cham up the waterways

Bars leaks, looks like oxo cubes, well, it used to!! Don't know nowadays, I wouldn't use it either! Although as is mentioned it's easier to remove than radweld. A couple of egss, in the cold engine, then start up and warm through, the egg sets up in any leaks, it can be easily removed later, with caustic or just about any cooling system flusher. I also always have eggs aboard, you can also use mashed potato powder, it works aswell.

Huh! Tutts has just bought a new microwave, guess we dont need it any longer. Just chuck everything in the engine and boil it up. I wonder if it would help if I put a black pudding in there??........./forums/images/icons/smile.gif
