Just got the antifouling bill, all looks resonable, till I come to.

Supply and fit 2 large bar anodes £156.

Now they are quite large bar anodes, that fit on my trim tabs.

But as a comparison.

Supply and fit 2 shaft anodes was £45.58

Can this be right??

Check out this site by A H Latham - its where I get all my anodes from... you can check the prices here too and the info/sizes are all there. They are very helpful if you're not 100% sure what you need. Not sure about fitting costs as I do me own!

TCS chandlery are advertising 4kg bar anodes at £35.95 each inc vat.

Does the invoice suggest a size or weight.
Or just Large?

From memory yours looked about 8 x 2 x 1 when new in old money
Dunno what that means in metric stuff.

depends how big.. could be £50+ each, but thats a pretty big anode on a trim tab. Does it still lift up /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well it says nowt about hull anodes, so thats a bit worrying.

So lets say your right about the size, I'd have thought a bit longer, but not quite as wide.

Anyway, what sort of weight is that going to be then.

The problem with marine stuff, (and other stuff I suppose), is that if you dont get a price up front, they will charge whatever the like, (and have a standard rates chart to justify it).

I just had a minor to do with the marina here in Malta. Amongst other things I asked for a price for 5m of toilet waste pipe. Next thing I know it's been delivered - When I query it the supplier said, "we dont normally quote for petty things like that".

I would check some web sites and compare.

The set i fitted last year (2 x Hull oblong + 2 x round t.tabs) I purchased in 2006, I did however notice the huge price leap in the chandlers stocks last year.

This year i think the zinc prices have falled hugely and therefore ought to be back to 'reasonable' levels again.

Shaft anode £9.75 (jut bought one)

Transom anode £21 for a medium round so say £40 for a big square one .

Metal prices have dropped through the floor so don't buy old over priced stock from the swidlery !

That's OK.
Check out how much the engine anodes will be though.
Not expensive in their own right.

Fitting is difficult however /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
