Having resurrected my aged YSE8 I'm going to get it going in the garden later. How high does the water supply to the pump need to be? How much water can I expect to move in say 10 minutes?
Any other tips for 'bench running' the engine welcomed as well

allow it to suck water from a bucket
DO NOT use a hose on mains pressure
i used to have a bucket with a skin fitting hung below the exhaust outlet with a hose from the bucket skin fitting to the raw water inlet, top up the bucketas it depleted due to spillage
i had a yse 12

If the pump is in good condition it will pull water from a bucket on the ground below a boat, i.e. the height of the keel. Much better to have it at the same height as the engine though.

So far as the flow rate is concerned, a normal domestic hosepipe supply will easily supply it, feed it into a bucket and allow it to overflow. When I flush my engine through ashore I squirt water into my Vetus strainer with a pistol type nozzle on the hose, plenty of flow for a five minute flush.
