I'm not interested in the answer but I would like to know why he is asking the question.

Before anyone suggests I ask the OP I admit that Raggies scare me.:)
 
Well the density of sea water is 1.025 and Fe is 7.87. So his anchor would weigh roughly 34.8 kg. However it's mass doesn't change.

Roggie probably doesn't have a working windlass and has to haul by hand. :D
 
I once owned a sailboat without a winch and, although the anchor was relatively small, my recollection was that it was blimmin heavy to haul up by hand. :D
 
Kilograms are the units of mass .... not weight

The units of weight are newtons (N)

A 40kg anchor has a mass of 40kg.


In air at the earths surface it weighs approx 392 N

In seawater it still has a mass of 40kg but it weighs approx 341 N
