How many times you went out with the boat this year ?

Once - to take her from Brighton to Chichester.

No holiday on the boat this year as we were far too busy at work (its what pays for the boating /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

However, when we were burnt out and knackered on a Friday afternoon, it was brilliant to drive down to Chichester and have a weekend just chilling on board.

For us, owning a boat is not about how far we go on her (after 20 years of continuous boat owning we have been far and wide) its more like having a moveable seaside cottage.

It keeps us sane and works for us /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
May

Lots:

Gibralta, Ceuta and Tarifa - Feb
Brighton in March
Brighton to Torquay through Cowes - April (Lumpy but fun)
Several trips around Tor and Lyme bays - May/June
Several trips up the river Dart - July/Aug
Sant Carles (SC) to Puerto Pollenca (PP)- Sept
Several trips PP to Alcudia - Oct
PP to Soller - Oct
Soller to SC - Oct
Couple out and around SC - Oct/Nov
Short blast to fuel berth in SC - Dec!

I am hoping my season in the Med next year will run from Feb to Nov!

Brighton was OK, loved Torquay, but looking forward to a lot more boating next year in SC!

I've put about 200hrs on the old,

Mind a lot of that was when I did my trip from Poole up the Thames as far as Oxford. That was when we had the summer back in May. Then there was about 50hrs at tickover on nontidal river.

All that tickover didn't seem to do much harm, once out into the esturay blew out all the cobwebs

It really was a most memorable trip, did Tower Bridge to Battersea Power Station in 20 mins, don't think there's a quicker way to get accross London.

Rest of the year all a bit mundane, bumming around Solent, Weynouth etc!

Looking foreward to a great 2009, it's got be a long hot summe, by the law of averages, hasn't it?

About 150 hours this year,a quick look at the log gave the following result.
2002 96 hours
2003 160 hours
2004 144 hours
2005 182 hours
2006 149 hours
2007 141 hours
2008 154 hours.
Weird thing is that fuel consumption in GPH has been going down
First couple of years average burn was 2.2 GPH,now dropped to 1.8 GPH,probably as a result of the price of fuel.

Been out once this year; put about 2 hours on the engines.

Mind you, I am talking about 2009 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here's the obligatory wake shot. Well, we were taking it easy:

Very few boats out. Here's one of them:

and here's another picture, of nothing in particular; just playing with a new camera:

Without going into detail, 2008 has been a terrible year for our family with one tragic event following another and another through the summer. With this and the naff weather we made fewer trips than 2007 and I achieved none of my 2008 boating objectives /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Not sure of exact engine hours due to failed hour meter displays /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif but the GPS log for the year is just over 500nm. A couple of highlights from our boating year:
Passage from Sovereign to Chi in April:

And on a stunningly quiet day, the Needles...

Happy New Year everyone.
