how many pounds of thrust will a 2HP honda outboard produce?

:)

If this is to equate to an electric outboard, the man selling Bison units told me that as a guide 55lb is equivalent to 1Hp.

Much more dependent on the prop than the HP of the engine driving it. Remember happy hours testing thrusts of competitors engines when I was at Seagull and being surprised how low some were in relation to the claimed HP of the power heads. We changed our model names to denote thrust rather than HP and you could get a genuine 25-30% difference in thrust from the same powerhead by having a different size prop and a different reduction ratio.

Not many supposed 2hp engines could generate more than 40-50 lbs of thrust because of their high propspeed and small prop.

A mag did some bollard pull tests awhile back.
Theoretically, power = force x speed.
2hp=1.5kW or so
Say 6 knots = 3m/s roughly
1500/3=500N or about 50kg

That needs the prop to be ideal for the motor to rev to peak power of course.....
