How many knots off top end does this equal

At the very least i would want the boat scrubbed and legs/props cleaned and another run done before i would part with any money . It will prob be fine but you need to know .
Agree with Henry , as an owner i wouldnt have let you sea trail it without a clean bum ,..............Unless i didnt think it would perform ???.

If you read the earlier post, it did have clean hull and stern gear for the sea trial, but conditions didn't allow for a WOT run. Assuming the boat wasn't lifted, then it should be sitting there now still clean, so it just needs another quick sea tial to check the speed. I think offering to pay for fuel is a nice gesture, and keeps everything friendly, after all it wasn't the seller's fault that the weather was no good on the sea trial. If it was my boat I wouldn't even accept the fuel money, but i'd still be pleased that they'd offered, and i'd trust them more as a result.

To be honest guys, Ancasta in Brigton have been really helpful and I cannot see them refusing a 2nd seatrial so I'll no doubt go for one if the weather permits in the coming days. Not looking likely at present though.

Here you go, here's the prop condition which must be worth another coouple of knots in my opinion.

Erosion of the stbd aft blade surface

There s the prob
With those props it's never going to WOT .
New ones ?.

certainly the stbd prop and has been added to the costed snag list for consideration by the vendor. sending it through tonight and will see what tomorrow brings, hopefully the vendor and Ancasta will recognise I am not attemting to thake the pee by asking for a bit off the asking price with the various things that need rectifying beyond fair wear and tear

A diver could probably scrub the hull for a reasonable sum bearing in mind the owl ;)
Alternaivelly have it lifted - pressure washed so a proper survey can be undertaken with the final sea trial to follow.
Make sure no water on board - nearly empty fuel tank - no tender causing wind drag - lazarette empty - polish hull and topside also to reduce wind drag further - max speed achieved at slack water in flat calm sea state preferably with a 40 knott wind behind = 30 - 32 knotts :D:D

There's no doubt that it doesn't take much fouling (including only a small layer of slim) to have a serious effect on the performance but it might also be worth considering the condition of antifoul paint. When was it last done? How many layers and what's the quality of the finish like? If the finish is quite poor, i.e. lots of flaked areas that have just been painted over, then this will degrade performance further still. Just food for thought.

the survey stated (I wasn't there) that the adhesion was good and the close up shots I've seen show the antifoul's in good nick having been applied by Southern Shiprights at the start of this season.. Hemple Tiger used

Hi Gary
I use Interspeed Ultra bit more expensive than Hemple but bl..dy good stuff ;)

thanks for the tip Terry.. we used Hample Glide on the last boat and were very happy with it on top of a coat of hard racing... I'll need to check out if it's compatible with Tiger as an undercoat.. The Tiger seems to have done well in a marina that suffers from high growth rates so will also look in to repeating that..

How did the second sea trial go?

we held 2 seatrial's, one with a dirty bum and pulled 25knts, the next waas aborted.. apart from top speed, all other systems checked out ok so we've taken her on, on the basis that we know the top end will improve with a clean bum which she now has ready for the trip back to Southampton
