My old confuser had Windows 95 on it. So suppose it must have been a bit after that. TCM was here, but under his maiden name. So was Coliholic and Byron, There was Nick Robinson, but he went teboat total, so was released. Who else was here, and still is. Who remembers the old forum. The Scuttlebut mutiny?? What else from those distant times. Remember the sware word zapper that went belly up almost the first day, cos I said Scunthorpe../forums/images/icons/laugh.gif White writting Now who invented that../forums/images/icons/laugh.gifPitty it got binned. What else was there??

Classic signs of an accelerating ageing process.

I'm afraid there is no help for you, alas!

The 1605 Club

I wuz there pretty much at the start. I can remember at least two incarnations of the forum, possibly three. The first one didn't even require you to register. Matt was certainly there, can't remember who else. In those halcyon days there'd be a bout 20 posts A WEEK!

BTW 16/05/01 was the date that the current forum went live.

Milford Haven is crap and rains all the time, I know, I went there twice.

Re: My first post

Just looked back to Feb 01 and my first posting - cannot seem to post a link here - but see Mike finch, JFM, Pete M and others replied.
Incidentally also see that with benefit of hindsight their advice to me was spot-on.
Thanks chaps

the auld days

I joined around Sept 99 so I dont go back as far as the likes of HLB, Byron, TCM etc. I know it was sept 99 becos that's when we bort the current boat. Plenty of current posters were on then, TCM was matts in those days, you were Haydn but most names have stayed the same. Nick Robinson is the most prolific poster to have left.

The exploding toilet was the most memorable thread, but I remeber TCM's T48 maintenace, one about radars frying your brains where a guy had sunburned his stomach while fixing his radar on the bench and HLB's gearboxes that fell to bits.

Also the Matts/Coliholic thread was great, where Coliholic was doing his first sea trip in the mirage, from Norfolk to Ramsgate, and TCM volunteered to help. TCM drove up from his home in London to Norfolk in his frari 456 and scared colin shitless screeching around town, then they went to sea and the engines conked out and it all got pretty hairy but they got it all going with some wd40 and sellotape and made it in the end

Re: the auld days

I've had inumerable gear boxes fall to bit 's But cant remember much about the infamous Exploding Toilet thread I wrote. Dont quite think it could be done again.
In a simmilar vain. I once wrote back to a Solicitor. Who told me that, As I was a fruit merchant at the time. And in the unusual practice of trying to discharge myself of unwanted waste. I was in the behavior of throwing rotten couliflowers down the toilet and there for had bloked the whole Neighbourhoods Sewage system up. However I had a quiet word with the drains inspector who had examined them and luckilly I happened to know him. He said the drains were blocked with condoms.

So I started this letter, Bear in mind I was very young at the time and my first thoughts were to thump im. However on my way up the street. I remembered the words of the officer in charge. Theres alot more to this story,But I went back, sat down and wrote the bloke a letter.
Dear sir I take this opertunity of welcoming you to the Neighbourhood. Being on such intimate terms I feel I must point out methods more suitable for use in a residential area. Your FPA or family doctor may help.!!
I'm trying to give you the abridged version.

Anyway we get a knock at the door.Well three really Not us we did not want involving with this, said the first and second!!

The third knock. It was not us we are cathhlics...../forums/images/icons/laugh.gif A very true story!!

Haydn, when the Forum started in the original format you wore short trousers and were still a virgin. Now all these years later..... are you in long trousers yet? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Re: the auld days

I'm a bit lost here!

How DO you flush a cauliflower down the loo? Do you put the heel of your boot on it? Do you take ages cutting them up into small pieces first? Or do you wait 'till they're really gooey and rotten?

I could understand brussels sprouts going down Ok (although they might be "floaters"). Cauliflowers?????????

Re: the auld days

Bloody hell, I'm impressed at my ability to write with fifty nine whiskies down the throat!!
Twas the builder with one leg, who blamed me for the drain blockage. However, when inspected, they were blocked with durex. The bloke up the road sent the solicitors letter. From him and his Neighbours. So I wrote back to him and delivered a copy to the whole new estate.
Turned out that the bloke was a durex salesman!! But the folk that came to apologies and said. Not us we're cathlics. I nearly fell on the floor laughing!!
