How explosive is diesel fuel

Agree, cold diesel in NW Europe bilges is smelly but not really dangerous. If its in a tank with saturated vapour ie no oxygen you can chuck a butt end in and it will not idnite/explode (I have seen this done on an old WW2 T2 tanker in central america.)When it gets hotter and is surrounded by free air watch out and take care.

Not just terrorists. We mixed diesel and [a standard gardening product] to make explosives in the army a long time ago. Only problem with this is that you need a reasonably good primary charge to set it off. Preferrably plastic explosives, which most people don't have ready access to.
