Out of curiosity how do most of you view post - threaded or flat?

I ask because it can make a difference to the way one phrases a post depending on whether it is immediately after the original (threaded) or at the bottom of a pageful of posts (flat)

I go flat most of the time unless the thread starts to drift and/or becomes very long, then maybe threaded can be a bit simpler to follow various 'sub-threads'.

Threaded initially because of sub-threads and the possibilty of any reply being seen out of context. Usually switch to flat to see the latest replies in one click/scroll but annoyingly on my computer at least, read posts in flat mode are then still flagged as unread, is that usual?

On this forum it pretty well has to be flat.

That is obviously what most contributors do and so the threads don't really make sense in threaded mode.

In many ways I prefer a forum that does use threading - as it allows different strands of a topic to develop separately - but it can only work if everyone uses that view

Flat

I tried threaded ... but flat is much easier to read quickly - it means I only have to read the interesting posts (usually the ones that I posted .. the rest is complete drivel! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)
