I often watch the various sailing films that people make and really like them. But how do you do them? Do you need some sort of PC software to “combine” the various “scenes”? I have a Panasonic Lumix TZ30 camera that records quite good videos, I have recorded many small videos from sailing vacations but will like to make one using various parts of these videos. Could you help please?

If you have a mac, then iMovie is as easy as Lego. Google 'video editing software' for your computer. It's very easy stuff to do, little bit more difficult to do it well!

As said loads of free editing software available but first you have to get the videos from your camera to your pc. Can you do that ok?

I have a simple panasonic camera - and just use their software that came with it.( SD studio )

Ok for just clipping the bits you like - then pasting them together and saving as a whole. It will let you mix sound tracks - but that gets a little more complex - as it only accepts a certain format of sound file. Not difficult - as Audacity ( free) will save tracks to that format.

Most cameras now are using mp4 so 'need' Win 7 min to run their software - unless you have a paid for editing software that will handle Mp4 codecs.

That soundtrack was added by running the mp3 through Audacity.

I've never managed to get any footage when the Bristol Channel has its teeth out - always too busy with other things ! Must try harder - and you can't strap the camera to the rail - it just looks all wrong. Way better hand held - ( or need a stupid helmet cam ! )

There are quite a few more on yt - Its fun to do - it won't make Cannes !
