How do you keep sealant cartridges from hardening?

Make sure you have the screw on caps. Hiding in freezer works fine for me. I also have a friend who puts his in air tight bags and sucks the air out, bit like shrink wrapping. That seems to work too as air/moisture is the curing agent.

The problem is, Sikaflex isn't the only tube I have or use.
There's:-
Sikaflex
Silicone sealant
Grab adhesive
Black sealant
Nail and Seal

and so on. And that's just for the boat. Plus a similar number of tubes for jobs at home.

Are you seriously telling me it's practical to be storing 8-10 tubes in the freezer? That's a whole drawer!

The main problem for me is that I keep stuff on the boat for jobs on the boat.
And stuff at home for jobs at home. Self sufficiency.
That way it keeps life a bit simpler. And when I'm away on the boat and a problem or project needs attending to, I can get it done with no fuss or delay.
OK so no wonder a friend of mine calls me his floating chandlery!

But seriously there's nothing more frustrating than getting e.g. a window leak, only to have to put up with it for 2 weeks and say "Next time I come I'll bring the stuff to fix that" when I have the stuff sitting at home but just not with me. That's what I mean by impractical.

I counted them, we have 6 tubes sitting in a row on the base of a freezer section, separate door type - not the sort in the fridge, on the top of our fridge.

To us it is simply too expensive to have a new tube sitting ready for instant use for some task on the boat, use say one table spoon, and then effectively throw the remains away - which is what happens if you just leave it.

Each to their own, it world for us.
