No. I said winch, not wench!
Hello each and everyone.
I've just acquired a Simpson Lawrence HySpeed manual anchor winch which needs some TLC. Trouble is, I'm not confident of how to set about servicing it. Does anyone have an owners' manual or does anyone know how to do it? It's a bit crusty. I've managed to release the 12mm screw that fastens the rope pulley onto the spindle but the pulley won't shift. I can see it's held by a keyway and I've left it with WD40 to penetrate. I can't see how the chain gypsy is held on. There's a domed head with a grease nipple in it where I'd have expexted to find the securing bolt. I've managed to release the eight half-inch countersunk screws that hold the plate onto the body of the winch but...
What's the next step? Biff it with a hammer? Use an axle puller on the pulley? or clean it up and put it back on Ebay?
All help much appreciated.
