How do I remove masking tape glue from my deck

WD-40 is great for removing residue left when you remove stickers, not tried it for masking tape as I always remove masking tape within a day for that reason! Acetone is my standby cleaner for all things, it won't dissolve GRP when set but can attack other plastics so be careful.

Depends on how old the residue might be - petrol solvents work reasonably if recent: stronger solvents such as acetone and xylol are slightly better, but in the end one is reduced to mechanical removal (not with an abrasive) and hot air gun.
One really shouldn't leave masking tape on for more than 24 hours and rain makes it almost immovable.

I removed the old lettering of my boat name recently. It was not a job I was looking forward to but was actually fairly simple. Peeled off the letters by thumbnail then rubbed off the glue residue with white spirit and a cloth.

I'm surprised so many people are still using petrol, credit cards and who knows what else!

Here's the miracle cure:

I've used this to get masking tape residue off my top sides after being there for 6 months. I removed about a 3m length with not a mark left behind and no elbow grease required in about 5 minutes.

Just looked on ebay and its either from Germany or USA with mad postage; any idea where in the UK it can be bought? I am going to try many of the thoughts we have all had here. I must have about half a mile of sticky residue all over the boat!!!

It is fairly aggresive so it may not be easily obtainable by the man in the street, I think it may be supplied by distributors for professional use only. Try car body shop suppliers.

I bought it from my local car body shop suppliers.

I wouldn't describe it as aggressive, my hull is awl gripped and almost no colour found its way onto the rag unlike acetone etc would've.
