How deep are UK canals ?

I know they obviously vary, being deeper in locks etc, but what is the average depth of the flat sections on eg the Grand UNion Canal ?

Spot on - some bits are on the negative side of "ish" and very much less on the sides (for mooring).
On the narrow canals 2ft 6ins is not unusual...
