I've just watched an ENORMOUS works vessel manouvre in the pool at Swanwick and make its exit down the Hamble. I wanted to look up some details on her so looked on the live vessel tracker but she's not showing up. How come? I'd've thought something that size would be on there for sure.

The only name I could see was 'Split Three Poole'. It was a huge great thing carrying away rubble and stuff from the works they're doing by Deacons.

Split 3 is a barge usually used for taking away dredged materials and dumping them at sea. Part of the hull is split lengthways and hinged at the top so it can open up and dump the contents through the bottom.
Dont know about whether it should show AIS though

Thanks dbp. Sandyman...he definitely had it all switched on. (at least his radar was rotating).
I wanted to know the length of it coz I was guessing at least 100 ft. It was quite a tight turn in the pool for sure [eek].

Is ais required on size or GRT....Split 3 is 340GRT which is under the 500 which is a cut off for quite a few rules ???
