I seem to remember a piece in YM a while back which included a rant about the horrors of having all lines lead back to the cockpit. Now who wrote that I wonder?

Our boat has nice boxes built into the cockpit suround for the mainsheet and main halyard on the starboard side and the self tacking staysail sheet and reefing lines on the port side. There are also recesses for the jib reefing line to starboard and ditto to port for the staysail outhaul and reefing line.

We take care to keep it tidy when under way-just as the designer obviously intended.

That's not a real cockpit! where's the coffee stain where the mobo wash caught you out in the act of supping and the huge bird dropping that seems unfeasibly large considering the size of the average ****ehawk?

Actually he is motoring so that does not count as a yacht even with with mainsail set
It's what can one expect of motor boaters
totaly slovenly
by the way cannot see the cone at that angle
Would I see one at all if we had a fuller view?

I hate all that spaghetti in the cockpit... drives me

Granny bars at the mast is the way to go ( for me anyway )

You sure? Motor boats are usually very tidy because our swmbos have vacuum cleaners etc. on board.

Im always quite envious of sailboats with outboards and other bits of kit randomly attached on rails and generally scattered all over the boat. :)

A stepladder appears to be propped up against the main sheet. Where have you stowed the wheelbarrow? And was the picture taken by a naval officer?

Boat shows are there to feed & fertilize your dreams. Reality is (most often) a bit different.

Like the difference between our weather and the one always shown in brochures eg.
