Dunno if this works for you, but I have bookmarked themain index page of the forums, and saved my password, so I never log off. I just click on my bookmark and I'm presented with the index and it says "you are logged on as Col"
I expect someone else will give you a better answer, but this works for me.

I do the same, works for me, or you can go to www.ybw.com/forums Has the same effect, sraight to the main index and you miss all that stuff that you never look at!

Wha'dya mean "I'm always playing with this engine" its the only way to get it to run!

If you click on the light blue bar at the top of the preview messages on the home page instead of 'forums' on the nav bar at the top, then you get no advert.
It says something like 'latest forum messages - main page' or simalar, on it.

did that make sense. no. ah well.

What V***vo add ???
I go straight in !!
and I've just changed over to BTAnytime - so I can be on-line all day !!!!! Oh dear

Any jobs going ??

Are you in some strange kind of comms with my dear old Gran? - one of her replies to us young uns when we badgered her to to something or other, was: "How can I? if I can't!"....we never did find a way to defeat that kind of logic.......memories...memories

Re: Dunno, but V*vo has pased the POP

Some advertising people refer to the "piss off point" where an advert is run so often that it gets past being very well-known, and actually begins to put potential customers off. Seeing as how a year ago there were minor V**o gripes, and now there's a volvo pressure group etc etc, one must imagine that they've done the same thing.

Re: Are volvos really that bad?

There used cos theres no bloody choice. Does not usually afect the new owners. Just the ones further down the line. Unless your called Depsol, then they smash up within a year or two. My bloody lawn tractor has done fifteen years with out much mending. You would have thought Volvo could compete with that.

No one can force me to come here-----------

Re: not quite that bad

general consensus is that there do some nice rumbling reliable engines, but also some not so blimming reliable engines.

Actually, it seems that the very worst aspect is the after-sales. I reckon that they'd do better and cd even put prices up if (say) depsol was now harping on and on about how they fixed the engine dead quickly, instead of bemoaning their wriggling. Owners wd actively seek out volvos and even pay a premium - a good way of really holding and expanding their market share - cos otherwise if yanmar or whatever start making slightly cheaper engines, then (i guess) manufacturers will move to them. At the moment, the only people really very keen on volvos are the manufacturers who get good prices. Put it another way - if they'd spent the same amount of money on uprating their after-salees as they have on ybw ads and round the sailing (er with no engines allowed, duh?) so that people slightly out of warranty got help, and people inside warranty got no quibbles, the rummour machine , very powerful since it's a leisure industry would be working overtime in their favour instead of the iopposite, as now.

Re: not quite that bad

or maybe a good chain of independant Volvo service centres - opportunity for someone?

I'd always thought I'd prefer volvo's - at least there are lots of engineers and parts easily available which I can't say for Detroit Diesel which also seems to be unfathomly complex!!!

Re: no opportunity ?

think the problems are centred arond warranty and near-warranty claims, so the service centres wd have to be volvo approved - or actually volvo. Seems to be that they have lots of service centres, but are overly severe with the admin/rejection policy. If in doubt, they should fix it.

With depsols problem, they may save a little with their protestations, but fixing it wd have costem (say) 3-4 grand at cost prices. I wd imagine that the adverse publicity so far has cost far more than that?

What was the outcome of your sad saga? One of the guys on the rig here has a volvo big bastard, with a cracked block, 200 hours, claim it isn't there fault! He's Swedish!

Re: How can I...I agree

enough Volvo adds !!!! ?They should start taking care of us punters who use/buy/lumberered with there emgines.......
