how can i search by name British Part 1 registered boat

You can't search on the Part 1. If you want to register a name, and is has to be unique, you have to apply fully before they will tell you if the name is available. Silly system I know, but they won't even tell you over the phone before you apply if the name is already taken.

You can't search by name except as an individual search for a specific boat by name and registration number. This service is usually used when a boat is changing hands to determine who is the registered owner and particularly if there are any charges registered against the boat.

Unlike the countries you mentioned registration is not compulsory in the UK and the prime purpose of the Part 1 register (apart from confirming it is a British Ship) is to register title and charges. It is not used for any other purpose and is therefore not a public record.
 
Older records are held at Kew Archives. I got a copy of the full entry for my boat.... lots of amazing detail.... I did have the ON number to search on though.

You may get lucky....... If you search for "Jenvin" it finds my boat record...... But Jenvin was not the first or last registered name..... a freak search engine result????
