Looking into fitting hot water but how big do I need a calorifier tank?
Want hot water for galley and heads and maybe a shower. Normally 2 persons on board. I have plenty of space to fit one but dont want to go too large. My feeling is for either a 22l or 30l size.

Just eyeballing I would say about 20l When we motor the water gets very hot so goes a long way. The plan usually is to take sails down 30mins before stopping for the day and motoring that last bit. Gives a good tankful. You do have to be actually going somewhere to make hot water, we find. Just running the engine under no load, even at quite high revs, doesn't work. At anchor, if desperate for hot water (doesn't worry me but the admiral likes to wash, even on holiday) we run the engine in reverse gear at 1200-1500 for 20- 30mins and that does work.
