House insurance covers 3rd party for your yacht! - Blimey

My household policy states that public liability is is limited to events occuring

"from your your ownership of the house"

I think this is the industry norm -if anyone knows different, please let us know the insurance company

Completely irrelevant I know, but a few years ago my then teenage son collided with a car while riding his bike. His fault . No injuries, but the car owner claimed for damage to his car. Household insurance sorted it all out no bother.

just checked my house contents insurance...no mention of boats or watercraft or even caravans...but i would be interested to see if household cover extended to "wreck recovery and removal" if your boat sank at its moorings.

The Insurance Company was General Acident.
The coverage was listed on the 4th page of small print. In the section on Liabilty not house hold contents.
limited to 16hp and 8m unless specified.
My boat was specified but I don't know what I have done with old policy and cover letter.
New policy does not have specific referance just general.
Another old Poicy has smae clause from Gore Insurance whoever they are.

Use of Watercraft owned by insured.

I do not know if this liabilty section was a special add on to basic house insurance or just something in Canada. I was not the post wich recomened to Dylan. I just confirmed I had insured my boat this way. The post recomending may not be from Canada.

If you want the correct answer as aplies in UK ask General Acident or your insurance broker.
