'House flags' do you have one ?

I'd imagine these people could probably help.

They certainly look the business. I googled up a few companies earlier this evening, and emailed any that made custom embroidered flags (didn't bother with the many that only did nasty printed ones) - but I didn't find those guys. I'll fill in their quote form too and see what comes back.

Cheers,

Pete

Sometimes I see hoists of the 'house' flag peculiar to each yacht's owners, as well as the 'welcome aboard' ones with a bottle and glass, teapot, or cup and saucer.
Do you have any interesting ones you fly (to port - usually!!)

I fly this as a houseflag!

Photodog might notice a similarity with one he knows

OK, I have had a reply from the company Woodlouse suggested. They say they are able to duplicate the burgee design, minus the yellow piping round the edge because they would use a single layer of fabric with special embroidering that looks good from both sides. The deal is that we have to order and pay for ten up-front to cover the set-up costs, and from then onwards they are willing to make them singly as required. They will supply a sample gratis to make sure the quality etc is acceptable before they go into production.

I'm inclined to go ahead with this - I am willing to put up the funding for the initial batch, and post them out in Haydnesque fashion. Sadly these are a few pounds more expensive than Haydn's, but I think there was a bit of "mate's rates" built into his price plus it had stayed the same since about 1999, so a rise was inevitable really.

Any objections, speak now or forever hold your piss :)

Sounds like a good solution. Ensign Flags do all our club flags and once they have the design on file anybody can order a single flag direct from them.

Why not get rid of the numbers and letters..tacky anyway..then there would be no problem with the logo. The crown on my ensign is the same both sides as is the seahorse on the burgee.I buy from The Ensign Flag Company in Liverpool.Maybe someone would like to take it up with them..I don't have the time.Is the mouse and cocktail glass official?Who dreamnt it up etc??

There are no numbers and letters in the forum burgee. The one with "5000" is from a brief period years ago when a few people got their post count and boat name added to them.

The tipsy mouse is rampantly unofficial, being instead sanctioned by time and use, which is far more important than mere "official approval". It has been flown and recognised all over the world. Its origins are not important; it has been our flag for over a decade, which is nearly forever in Internet time, and the essential design should not and will not change. There may be a few modifications to the construction as we change supplier, but it will still be the tipsy mouse - and any differences will merely increase the cachet of having an "original" Haydn burgee in years to come :)

the Burgee came about years ago, no one could agree on the design. Boatone of this parish. came up with a design that would work. And it did.

The mouse, is a computer mouse, it has a glass in it's hand. So a party or get together.

The forum flag has never been marketed, as I could never find a way of easily marketing it. Without it just becoming an other product.
So the forum flag requires some commitment.
