I don't know if it's any good but these people are selling hour meters at £22.99+vat which seems reasonable value. Part number 160598E, more information in their catalogue than on their website. Also trailer bits, generators etc. I've bought some tools from them. They've been OK. FWIW etc

I think they're a good idea but the 50 hours between oil changes comes round quicker than you realise; those odd hours between sails...
A vibration driven hour meter would be my first choice despite being told they don't exist, however, VDO do/did make them...

When you say vibration meters I presume you mean similar to those fitted to compressors etc IE no electrics and relying on the engine vibration , if so I fitted on of those and the bloody thing would clock up hours when sailing to windward in a chop!!

I returned a vibration counter the same day I bought it as it was clocking up time on the drive home. Any thing other than the slightest movement had it working, useless on a sailing boat!
