I have an old Houdini hatch which leaks from both the frame and the glass.

Obviously I can re-bed the frame to the deck - but does the leak around the glass make it terminal? I can't see how I can get the glass out of the aluminium frame.

I really want to avoid chucking it - because a new one costs the earth.

Hi
I had the same problem around 2 years ago with my Houdini hatch,
Undoing the hinge screws allows the alloy frame to come apart on a joint behind one of the hinges, my hatch has bars on the outside and the screws for them are under the main gasket, (you can get a new main gasket from Houdini for around £20 ) The glass to frame gasket is not available but a mate who is a windscreen fitter told me to remove the glass and the old seal and clean both the glass and frame channel up with thinners thoroughly. He gave me some foam packing pieces to fit between the frame and the glass just to center it in the groove (at this point it was re assembled) and gave me some glass primer to carefully paint between the frame and glass leaving a neat black border of about 1 inch all around, then I applied windscreen sealer around the joint inside and out using a geared cartridge gun he said not to try to fill in the groove fully as it would never come apart again .
100% success and looks good
Ps the sealer is better warmed to apply and dont get the primer on your hands or it will be there for a while

We replaced our Houdini last year with another... Somewhere around £150 for the 500x500 mm IIRC. As the Perspex was going as well, thought it better than refurb...
