Hot tanks!

Checked my stainless-steel fuel tank yesterday whilst on a long motoring trip (Volvo 2001) and noticed that it was very warm to the touch. Is this normal or cause for concern? Heat and fuel always seems a concern....! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Suspect it would warm up a bit from the fuel return line. Perhaps not noticable on a short trip but bound to make a temp. difference on a long trip. If this is the reason it's nowt to worry about!

Good point, forgot about the return. Would that mena it would be normal for it to get as warm as the outer part of the engine?

Depends how big the tank is, how much fuel is in it and its proximity to the engine.
