Hosepipe Ban

I assume filling fresh water tanks up with a hose pipe is not part of the ban!!! dont fancy filling those up with a bucket:(

I understand that last time a hosepipe ban was imposed it was "domestic" and did not apply to commercial premises such as the marinas. Berth holders were asked to behave responsibly - and they did - but the water we use does go straight back into the river so is circulating within the system rather than being "lost".

The last hosepipe ban we had , we weren't allowed to even use our electric pumps to take water from the river.

We had to use watering cans on lengths of rope. That was no fun.

What even you.:confused:As a riparian owner I have an extraction quota to water the garden with, which I did not think was affected by the hosepipe ban. Perhaps the EA just wanted to show a good example.

What the hosepipe ban means for you

You will not be allowed to use a hosepipe for the following activities:
Watering the garden
Cleaning cars
Watering plants on domestic and non-commercial premises
Cleaning a private leisure boat
Cleaning paths or patios
Filling or maintaining a domestic swimming or paddling pool
Drawing water for domestic recreational use

I would hope that common sense dictates that the ban will not extend to potable water, whether the tank is filled by hose, bucket or whatever. :(

In our region, Anglian Water has confirmed that after the ban is introduced there will be no restriction on filling boat domestic water tanks. The washing of boats ie valeting with a hose-pipe will not be permitted BUT it will be permissible to wash the decks for "Health and Safety" reasons. Seems fairly pragmatic, and hopefully other water companies will take the same stance.
