While some of you may be worried about the hosepipe ban, you need to be aware of the water companies stance on Boat owners, especially those whose boats are moored up in a Marina.

See here for some guidance:

There is a clear exemption which allows you to clean the decks of your boat for health and safety reasons, or flush an outboard motor.

Best use it... :o

I need to treat the hull of my boat with Y10 (or suchlike), to get rid of yellow stains, and then rinse it off afterwards. The boat is ashore.

Do you think that is allowed:

a] if I do it

b] if I pay the yard man or an outside contractor to do it?

....although interestingly, and on a technicality, 'if a business whose living is relied on to wash boats' does it, it's OK....:o

Can you find somebody to wash your boat, while they wash yours? :D

I cleaned the boat using my Karcher pressure washer, instead of connecting it to the hosepipe I had a short length of pipe going into an office water cooler 19ltr bottle which I filled from the hose. Once the water gets into the pump you get full pressure no different than connected to the mains. I was surprised how long each bottle lasted. You could even have the hose in the river works just as well!

Thats very interesting. So what you are saying is that the pressure washer will actually pump water from a source(subject to filtering of course) rather than having to be fed from a source.
I had no idea they could do that. If that works then yippee.:)
