Hi

This hose is on my Thornycroft BMC 1.5 diesel engine and was added a few years ago to feed a heater we have near the driver. The chap who fitted it had it in his spares and is now no more. I have tried for the last year to find a source but with no luck; I must be getting nearer the day I'll need one. Any ideas please.

Thanks for the replies so far, I have sent the picture to ASAP and spoken to them but no good. The pipe is a 90 degree bend about an inch and a half dia. with a T going off approx half inch dia. I will try emailing the other suggestions but I guess I was hoping somebody had needed this part and found it already.
The only other suggestion I,ve been given was a chap who thought he'd seen a metal, mechanical joint, formed by making a hole in the larger pipe and inserting the joint that created a sort of flange that I could join two different dia. rubber pipes. Anybody know what he's referring to?
 
I wonder if what you have fitted currently may well be an bottom hose for a BMC A series car that has been cut down and bent up the wrong way- not in the shape that it was formed - which is possibly why it looks to have a kink in it.

The hose shape and length would depend on what car it was for but it would look something like this

It is difficult to say whether the hose in this picture is the correct diameter but Thornycroft diesels were BMC based I believe.

Forcing the wrong shape hose to fit will put it under strain and limit its life. So you would be better to have a hose that is made to the correct shape and dimensions.

Lucky you being able to get good enough access to take the picture. I am surprised ASAP weren't helpful as they do sell a version of the hose you need. I used it to fit a calorifier to my T90.

You may have to rerun the heatin pipe but this hose connects the water pump to the heat exchanger with the heating outlet.

Why not get a stainless steel piece made up with the correct bore for each end, make it slightly short all around and then add straight hoses to join it all up. Simple. Shouldn't cost much and you save haing an awkward bend in that hose.

You haven't removed and refited that hosw have you

This picture shows the hose more clearly and maybe it has been formed from a straight hose, I don't know but it has kept its shape.
The idea of making th ends of s/s tube and other bits in rubber would finish up with a lot of joints.
The ASAP T type pipe has the T on the wrong side of the pipe.
Nobody seems to have come across the sandwich/Flange type joint that was referred to me, I imagine a bit like a dinghy valve.
I did wonder if I could adapt something out of Hep2O, but again, more joints.
The hose has proved servicable having been there for 7/8 years, but the clock is clicking.
 
The only other suggestion is to start looking at the canal boat pages, a lot of T90s are plodding ap and down the canals so your version may be in use there, otherwise I suspect you will have to alter your set up to fit the ASAP pipe
 
I have 2 of these engines and Motor Parts Direct were able to supply these hoses . Try asking for Leyland Sherpa..........or London Black Cab parts list.....MPD have lots of depots near London area . We changed ours last year....sorry I dont have the part number but the vehicle name was what located them for us. In fact, we changed every hose while we were at it. Good luck.;)

The problem with that is it would create two additional joints more than I have now, but yes it would work. Thanks
