Strange as it may seem, I am having difficulty getting a length of that hose with the white rings round it to expand sufficiently to go over the fitting on my seacock. I have tried boiling water, silicone grease, blowlamp but to no avail.
Am I missing a trick here or shall I throw the old stuff and get a new bit? It is 10 years old and been on the boat since the kindly French built her.
Not a joke , but it has beaten me thus far.

Thanks:confused:

Replace with new. You don't want a dodgy connection on a seacock.

Quite agree. The new white non collapse piping is not cheap but will last. If it doesn't slip over the fitting you will need to heat it very gently to make sure it warms through evenly. Hot air blower is ideal. If you heat it too quickly it will get too soft and will concertina up and you will not get enough length on the fitting. Don't forget to double clamp all skin fittings.
