hello all
silly question really but here goes :
do you have to add a hose clip to a hose barb connection ? given that it is not a flat surface . it's for a low/no pressure connection in a diesel line. thk u

These connections tend to be smaller than the smallest jubille clips so try and obtain the correct clip from a motor factor or injection specialist as an oversize jubilee clip will make matters worse.

As an aside, SW Chandlery have the cheapest stainless hose clamps that I have yet come across.

I clip all hoses. Double on toilet hoses, although it is always such a real struggle to get the pipes on and off, I wonder if clipping is needed at all. However the prospect of the Lavac blowing a hose off is too awful to contemplate!

With a barbed fitting of exactly the right diameter for the hose, a good quality hose and exactly the right surface finish on the outside of the barb and the inside of the hose, you'd probably get away with it. BUT would you risk it for the cost of a clip?! I certianly wouldn't!
