Horse-shoe bouy name

I want to paint my boat name onto my new horse-shoe and danbouys. Anyone know what paint to use?

If its paint you want and they are PVC covered then the paint for PVC inflatables would do the trick http://www.polymarineshop.com/paints/pvc-paints.html?limit=all Polymarine also do stencils so you can make a decent job of it

I made a stencil ans sprayed mine with a can of "Plasticote" spray from Homebase or the like and it's lasted 6 years.

I used car number plate letters - great result & easy to get a very neat result. You need to be a signwriter to get as good a result from painting.

I dont think you can get the car number plate letters now. Criminals used to use them to make false plates.

At least I couldn't last time I wanted make a set.

Worth adding here that if you specify that the name is for a horseshoe some sign makers will do you letters suitably arced to fid round the curve. Its worth asking and you have reminded me that Jedi still has no name on the horseshoe! In my case getting them to use the Star Wars font can be an issue as well

If you have an image or desk-top publising programme you can create the effect yourself and just e-mail a .tiff or .jpg to the sign-maker.
You need to make sure you have made the image the correct size so that it outputs the right size. typically, for vinyl, 150ppi at whatever cms long you need it.

I did this for my boat name for Slippy so that I could distort the letters (slippy, see?) and for Feckless so that I could use the font of my choice.

Yes, letters are no longer available from autofactors as laminated plates are so obviously beyond the wit of criminals. I buy them from an old fashioned hardware store who really don't give a sh*t what I want them for.

The effectiveness of this legislation is similar to that of gun control in the UK where the ownership of handguns was made illegal (mine were confiscated). So now every little piece of cr*p wandering the streets has one! Another own goal!

Rant over - the sticky letters are remarkably good at sticking to the PVC of a lifebuoy.

When SWMBO bought me a new horseshoe I used stencils and a permanant marker. Looks good, simple to do and cheap.

I used sticky letters first... they all fell off..

Then I used a permanent marker.... and it faded away.

I have now given up... but will revisit some of the suggestions..

CSail!!! Do you do a curvy one and do they stay sticked on??
