Hooking up new DVD to old digital TV with coaxial cable

Hello,
I have replaced an old DVD player and the new one has only HDMI and RCA outputs. This is to run two built in digital TVs. No other input is required. One TV can only be fed by RCA and the other in the owner's cabin only by old fashioned coaxial cable as a result of the cable being built into the boat about 30 seconds after the keel was laid and never to be seen again. The following u tube posting seems to show how this can be done.

Firstly, if the above is correct, is it better to use "piggyback" connectors to divide the RCA signal and then convert one for the coaxial cable, or will it be necessary to run one television from the HDMI output, converted to RCA and then to coaxial and the other from RCA directly?

Finally, is it possible please, to identify the actual products required as there is (to me) a bewildering selection of similar looking equipment. I am an old git who only recently threw away his Betamax player!

You could use one of these to convert the HDMI signal to RF for the co-ax connection. But it would probably be cheaper to buy a second DVD player to connect directly to your remote TV!
 
Thanks for the reply and you are right, it would be far cheaper to buy a second DVD player but there is no neat way to install it in the cabin without major modification and redecoration.
I can use my RCA output and the item in the u tube video was described as a RF modulator by RCA and they seem to be this-

The Amazon one will do what you want and has a DC input. The Ebay one is mains powered.

I bought the Amazon unit which described itself as being exactly what I need. However, it does not seem to work. Is it possible to check the coax output for a signal with a multimeter, please?
 
No, but have you tried it off your boat? On your home tv for instance, to make sure it works in a known simple configuration. Your boat coax connection may be damaged
 
Yes, I tried it with another, short coax, and another TV and coax,same result. The modulator is American, so I am wondering if it does not work on the European system. Maybe my TV will not pick up the American channels 3 or 4 that the modulator works on.

If it came from Amazon .com is it not likely to be American NTSC standard not UK PAL? It does say it only works on PAL D which is not compatible with UK,being E European and China mainly.
