I really don't understand your comment. The identical book is £16.99 on one site and £12.31 on the other site; the only difference I suppose being that the more expensive site pays commission to whoever gave the link.

It does look a bit pricey and a bit overkill for most normal everyday mooring pick ups, but there have been times in Dutch "box" type berths or large, busy locks when I would have loved to have one.

I'm not sure that a mooring hook would be helpful in a lock or box mooring. I have seen a gadget sold in Holland that looks like a tennis racquet without strings which does what you want, though we usually seem to manage without.
