Hood Seafurl bearing...

The bottom bearing on the drum has disintegrated, can l take this to bits in situ - or does the whole foil need to come down. The problem looks like Seafurl provide their own Norseman fitting for the stay - so how does this all undo??

I can lift the drum about 4 inches to see the shaft underneath, but nothing seems obvious from there!

I had to take the whole thing off when I had to replace the bearings in mine. The bearings were delrin. They were alterate small then large bearings. We replaced them with all large bearings. Been fine since

I replaced all mine when I had the forestay dawn for re-rigging. To get the drum off undo the four screws at the top of the torque tube and knock out one half of the split coupling. The torque tube is held on the drum by three countersunk screws, probably covered in silicon sealant at the base of the tube. Take out the three screws and separate the drum from the torque tube and push the tube up the foil as far as you can get it. There should now be visable a lock nut at the top of the tube. Loosen this and then the whole drum assembly will unscrew off the forestay wire. You can then dismantle the drum at your leisure.
I have the manual somewhere but I'm back at sea tomorrow and will not be able to access it for a fortnight.
