My 1kW Honda genny always starts 1st pull, even after standing for weeks. However, after 30 secs or so it stalls, regardless of choke, rpm or load. It restarts quickly but may stall again 3 or 4 times, after which it runs for hours flawlessly. Fresh fuel and plug is clean. Any ideas?

Have a look at the oil and if you think it's full, add just a little bit more .....

Might want to just check the re is no air leak on the carb. It starts on choke, then as the engine warms up it seals!?

only a 2 min job!

I dont want to teach my granny to suck eggs, but the oil level cut out switch will do that if the oil is a little low.

For those who have not read the manual, all Honda's with screw in dipsticks sould have the dipstick resting on the edge of the hole, not screwed in, to get the correct level. If it is screwed in, the reading is higher by the depth of the thread.

The number of motorcyclists who used their Honda's with low oil when I was a dealer was astronomical. When we sold a Honda, the new owner was ALWAYS appraised of this important fact.

With the good 'ol Honda fifty step through the difference in oil quantity was 28% if the dipstick was inserted incorrectly IIRC.

Thanks all. Put in 30ml of oil and all is now well. GHA can collect on his bet.
Bit odd as oil level was OK with dipstick correctly positioned but now I know.
